Bob Dylan & His Band with Mark Knopfler Description

Bob Dylan

Legendary rocker Bob Dylan comes to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for two nights to play off his new album Tempest. See the hall of fame singer live as he plays old and new hits alongside other rock legend Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame.

Bob Dylan is a living legend. Born in 1941 in Minnesota, Bob Dylan’s songs became symbols for the rapid social change of the 1960s, elevating the singer-songwriter to the status of counter-cultural icon. Echoing his cultural importance, Time Magazine included Dylan in its list of the Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century. His albums have won eight Grammy Awards and six of his most popular songs, like “Blowin’ in the Wind” were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Songs like “The Times They Are a-Changin'” helped to launch Bob Dylan’s career and quickly aligned him with the American anti-war and civil rights movements. In 1965, Dylan changed the face of American music, bridging the gap between folk and rock with his performance at the Newport Folk Festival, which was the first in the festival’s history to use electric guitars. While his diehard folk fans loudly booed his turn from folk to rock, the rest of the world quickly caught on to Bob Dylan’s poetic lyrics and raw energy.

Bob Dylan’s talents as both a songwriter and performer have earned him countless awards including a 2008 Pulitzer Prize, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2012.

Bob Dylan’s live performances are constantly changing, so returning crowds can hear new versions of fan favorites. Dylan has mastered the guitar, harmonica, and keyboard for over fifty years and brings a changing line-up of back up musicians to each show. A Bob Dylan concert is a chance to see the iconic performer in action and to hear his latest creative twists on old classics.
