Pure Entertainment!

Two thumbs up and a round of applause for the Improv! This place is perfect for people who love to laugh and be entertained in style. Of course, the level of pain in your stomach from laughing depends on whether of not the comedian is funny. However, my experience was phenomenal. I recently went on a date to see Bill Bellamy and had a blast. Not only was the show great, but the food and drinks were amazing and fairly priced. Drinks $6 - $12. Food $5 - $20. I mean… who doesn’t love a fully serviced restaurant at a comedy show? On the other hand, I was very well pleased with the venue. The Improv definitely has a classy vibe. It consists of two levels, and is pretty spacious. The seating was very comfortable and the lighting was perfect. More importantly, the bathrooms were very clean with marble floors. Ladies, you know how important this is to us! Overall, the Improv is a fun environment for a date or group of friends. Considering the very active nightlife in downtown San Jose, I was happy with parking. There is a large parking garage conveniently located across the street. I highly recommend going to the Improv for anyone 21+ looking for a great time of pure entertainment and great service. Come dressed to impress. Don’t wear anything outrageous, unless if you are willing to be made into a joke during the show!
Candlelit Comedy, Anyone?
Rachel M. Sep 6, 2012
As expected, your enjoyment of San Jose Improv will mostly have to do with who you see, but the venue itself is a very classy and comfortable establishment. Personally, I lucked out, not knowing who the comedians were prior to the show, just tagging along for a friend's birthday event--and ended up thoroughly enjoying myself. Having never been to a comedy show live before, I was surprised at how lovely the place was: more like a candlelit restaurant than a standard theater. Sitting at a table off to the side on the floor level, we still had a great view of the stage, and the softness of the atmosphere gave the show a nice, intimate feel. Food is quite expensive there, and they expect you to purchase a $12 minimum in food or drink on top of buying a ticket. (I'm a poor just-out-of-college kid, so this is somewhat significant for me.) But if someone you want to see is coming to town, or even if you want to take your chances seeing anyone (like I did), Improv is a nice place to check out for a comedy-loving date or if you want to act a little fancier with a group of your friends.
