The San Francisco Singles Scene: Locked and Loaded

The San Francisco Singles Scene: Locked and Loaded

Comments  (2)

Aug 15, 2012 —  Put off getting older for one more day because there’s a mad scene of raucous partying to be had at wild bars all over San Francisco! There are open rooms vibrating with loud music and sweat-laden dance floors brimming with people who couldn’t care less about tomorrow morning. And there are loads of cute guys and girls avidly looking for love – if only for the next couple hours.

That’s the great thing about meat-market bars in SF: there’s no pretense, no banal social mores, and no requirement for an IQ greater than the capacity to tie your shoes so you don’t slip and fall on your way through the door.

They say everybody has to grow-up eventually, but luckily there’s still time to hit the following selection of the best bars in town for letting loose and maybe locking lips with Mr. or Mrs. Right Now.

Hey, we’ll grow-up next weekend…maybe the weekend after that.

    Kozy Kar

    Dive Bar

Kozy Kar - Dive Bar in San Francisco.
It’s conceivable that someone could walk into Kozy Kar and never notice the Lite-Brite sign, the waterbeds, the Ford and Chevy truck grilles, the shag-covered benches, the mirrors, the pinball and arcade machines, the back room with its vinyl van seats, or even the wall-sized sunset beach scene... ...but even the most hard-jonesin’ alkie would

    Bamboo Hut

    Tiki Bar

Bamboo Hut - Tiki Bar in San Francisco.
Located right on the border between Downtown and North Beach's seedy heart – an area that’s catered to sexual indiscretion since the 1800s – Bamboo Hut is a tropical refuge from the titty bars and porn shops that still populate Broadway Street today. A giant tiki head marks the entrance, but that’s just the beginning of the island décor, which

    MatrixFillmore

    Bar / Club / Lounge

MatrixFillmore - Bar | Club | Lounge in San Francisco.
Opened in 1965 by Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane, MatrixFillmore (formerly The Matrix) once featured some of the biggest bands of the flower-power generation, including The Grateful Dead, The Doors, and many other formative members of San Francisco’s rock scene. After undergoing many incarnations since the original closed in 1972, the place is

    Eastside West Restaurant & Bar

    Bar / Restaurant

Eastside West Restaurant & Bar - Bar | Restaurant in San Francisco.
One of three catty-corner bars that make up The Triangle – the undeniable heart of the preppy Marina singles scene – Eastside West Restaurant & Bar is a quiet and stylish seafood joint for much of the week. Fridays, however, see a flood of young blood start trickling in for Happy Hour, with former college frat stars snagging a stool at the

    Bus Stop

    Sports Bar

Bus Stop - Sports Bar in San Francisco.
Situated on trendy Union Street, Bus Stop is a neighborhood sports bar popular with relaxed Giants-loving regulars on game days and more boisterous twenty-something social butterflies on Friday and Saturday nights. Weekdays see middle-aged sports buffs in baseball hats and college football sweatshirts hanging out in the glow of the myriad overhead
