Soccer is the primary sport played on the Stadio Olimpico field, which is home to the Serie A club teams, Lazio and Roma. The Italian National Rugby Union also uses the stadium as its base.
Stadio Olimpico gained fame when it hosted the 1960 Summer Olympics. Other past events held at Stadio Olimpico include the 1990 FIFA World Cup, the 2011 Coppa Italia Final, and the annual Golden Gala track and field competition.
