The Internazionali BNL d'Italia is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournament that is played in May at the Foro Italico sports complex in Rome, Italy. Foro Italico was originally built for the 1960 summer Olympics and has a main center court with a seating capacity of 10,400.
Traditionally known as the Italian Open, the tournament was first held in 1930 and is now part of the clay court season which leads up to the French Open, the biggest clay court tournament in the world.
Past Italian Open winners include Rafael Nadal (most wins all-time), Novak Djokovic, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, Björn Borg, and Rod Laver.
