My favorite part of the job was hitting up the venues that treated me like kind of a big deal. Although some bars didn’t care who I was, others would give me multiple specialty drinks to try, and although I was only meant to “taste” each one, I definitely drank them all! Other venues would bring out plates of food on the house, which was super-fun, especially when I brought friends.

When I went to check out Hudson Terrace, there were two long lines outside. I didn’t know what the difference was, so I picked one, flashed my fancy Party Earth card, and got right in. I started discussing with my boyfriend why there might be two lines, when a twenty-year-old “big shot” in a white linen shirt said that we were in the VIP line. After attempting to get my name and all my information (in front of my boyfriend), the dude assured us that if we ever went to a party in NYC, he surely ran it. He was kind of a big deal. Kindly, the sunglass-wearing social king invited us to join him at his private table, where he and his college-aged friends gave us occasional drips from the vodka bottles they were holding tight. My favorite part of the night: his buddy told me that he was interning at an investment bank in NYC for the summer, and five minutes later when a hot girl came up, I heard him say, “I’m an I-Banker.” Smooth.

It’s hard to align myself with any one character, but if I had to pick, I’d say Emma. I’m pretty diverse in the kinds of places I go, and I love an authentic cultural experience. I’m more impressed with less expensive places that are super-fun and rowdy and am less likely to try a place where there’s a big reputation.

My perfect day in the city would definitely start with sleeping in. Then I’d hit up brunch at Calle Ocho for some delicious Cuban food and ten different types of bottomless sangria. After that, I’d stroll over to Central Park and meet some friends in Sheep Meadow, then head to Whole Foods on 96th to pick up food for dinner. After cooking up a feast for friends and family, and drinking lots of wine, I’d go down to Planet Rose for some festive karaoke. After doing shots with the bartender and singing one too many Heart songs, I’d drag my friends to Katz’s Deli for a late-night pastrami sandwich, then hop a cab home to snuggle with my puppy.
