What is your favorite part of the job?

Although not exactly a mandatory requirement for the job, I enjoy researching new bars that have opened up.  I always know when soft openings are occurring and I’ve learned a good deal about key owners in certain neighborhoods and how that aspect of the business operates.  Also, I’m a cocktail aficionado, so it gives me the “but it’s for work!” excuse to sample new ones.

Short Story/Anecdote from your time on the job:

After a long weekend of St. Patrick’s Day festivities, I was not in the mood to participate in one last event.  You know those nights you swear you’ll only have one drink, say hello, and head home?  You swear it, but it never happens.  Three hours later I found myself socializing with a huge group of friends and new acquaintances at Houston Hall.  The night ended up turning into a debauchery that led us to several different venues afterwards and an unforgettable time.  I ended up hitting it off really well (in a friendly manner), with one of my new acquaintances.  At the end of the night he invited me to a pre-screening for a film.  I looked at him puzzled, asked him for his full name and in the wee hours of the morning, hopped onto IMDB.  Sure enough, I had been talking to a renowned film editor the entire evening.  No wonder he was so intriguing!  If it weren’t for my assignment to Houston Hall, the entire night never would have happened.

Which Party Earth reviewer(s) do you resemble most and why?

I am definitely most akin to Emma.  I am adventurous and love exploring new venues.  I’m also pretty versatile dependent upon the company I’m with for the night.  If I’m with a huge group, then I’ll happily mingle at a dive bar and if it’s a low-key night, then I’ll settle for a sultry cocktail lounge.

What is your perfect day in New York? What are you doing and where are you going from morning to night?

Assuming it’s a weekend with nice weather, I gather a group of five to join me at Paradou for brunch.  After a few hours there, since we’re already situated on the West Side, we walk to Chelsea where we meet up with a bigger group and board The Frying Pan until sundown.  We break for about an hour to get dressed for the night and meet up at someone’s apartment for drinks and take-out.  Around midnight or later, head down to Meatpacking and close down Le Bain.  As the sun comes up, we end the epic adventure at Veselka.
