Exploiting the camera I always have around my neck as an excuse to talk to everyone and weasel my way into every nook and cranny of a venue. Being able to throw around that I’m with Party Earth is also incredible for opening people up and getting them to want their pictures taken!
On one occasion, a friend from out of town was lost and confused looking for a night out, so I asked if he wanted to tag along to check out some venues for the site. He accepted, and together we did a mini tour of Hell’s Kitchen, starting with meeting the owner of Rudy’s, who gave us free drinks and endless access to the bar’s famous hotdogs, and ending at Bar-tini Ultra Lounge, which had a great DJ going and a raucous crowd that made the entire night a blast. We got a little bit of everything and spent nearly no money after all was said and done. It was one of those great nights everyone goes home happy from, and if it weren’t for Party Earth I’m not sure I’d have thought to visit those places.
Waking up bright and early at 2pm before sauntering out of bed for a huge brunch with friends. I like to take things easy, lightly planning my evening starting with whichever place has cheap draft beer, like Holland Cocktail Lounge or Rudy’s, both in Hell’s Kitchen, and ending up somewhere screeching and howling into a microphone for karaoke in K-Town. Either that, or tearing up a dance floor someplace rowdier, like one of the serious clubs in the Meatpacking district. Cielo, maybe? The glory of New York is how close everywhere worth being is, and how my perfect night can be something completely different every week.
