Situated right by the Les Halles shopping center, L’Autobus Impérial is an elegant and welcoming bar and restaurant perfect for unwinding over cocktails after a day of shopping at Benetton and H&M.
Intricate screens, crystal chandeliers, candelabra, and closely clustered café tables and tufted chairs give the place a slightly antique vibe, in contrast to the sleek marble bar where very modern young professionals line up to sip fruity mojitos and champagne cocktails.
Mirrored walls reflect chic couples chatting by candlelight, as groups of girlfriends and weary tourists breeze in looking to gossip and relax over salmon tartare.
Warm weather draws diners out to the wide patio, where they settle into wicker chairs for a bit of people-watching and specialty cocktails.
Though the décor is stylish, the drinks elaborate, and the location ritzy, L’Autobus Imperial allows its patrons to tie one on in a relaxed and classy environment after a hectic day of toting bags and swiping credit cards.
Chic young professionals, couples, and occasional hipsters, groups of coworkers, mid-20s+.
Ambient jazz, blues, and reggae.
Seasonal mix of typical French dishes and Mexican and Indian appetizers, including salmon tartare, tortillas, and samosas. Happy Hour M–Sa 5–8pm.
Appetizers €9+, tapas bar €3+, entrées €18+, two courses €24.50, three courses €29.50. Beer €3+, wine €5+/glass or €15–€80/bottle, cocktails €8, champagne cocktails €9, shots €3.50 or 10 for €25, coffee €2+.
Smart casual: button-downs, pullovers, nice jeans, vintage sundresses, sandals.
Any time for a sightseeing or shopping break, or Saturdays for lunch and excellent people-watching.
Experimental Cocktail Club (37 Rue Saint-Sauveur) carries on the cocktail theme and stays open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays.
