Party Earth Le Pub Saint Germain Review

The Scene

Opened in 1968 as a gathering spot for locals during Paris' legendary student revolt, Le Pub Saint Germain remains a neighborhood hotspot that bustles with activity both day and night.

Opened in 1968 as a gathering spot for locals during Paris’ legendary student revolt, Le Pub Saint Germain remains a neighborhood hotspot that bustles with activity both day and night.

Located in a prime 6eme spot and open 24/7, the place brings in droves of young professionals for the weeknight Happy Hour, and it’s a tourist favorite offering burgers and fries for the American students missing In-N-Out any time of the day.

Three floors offer guests a variety of vibes, starting with the classic pub on the ground floor, whose large bar and rustic wooden tables are usually filled with laid-back groups of friends vegging out over beer or coffee, while sports fans often head to the adjacent lounge to sprawl on upholstered chairs to watch the game on the projection screen.

Patrons looking for a casual dinner can make their way to the second-floor restaurant, a chic space with an Asian-inspired décor featuring red leather seating, flickering candlelight, and a soothing atmosphere perfect for low-key conversation.

Mosaic tiles and quilted red and orange walls mark the third floor lounge, whose Moroccan flair forms a colorful backdrop for the lively clientele that keeps the place buzzing with activity at all hours.

One of the few places in the city with a round-the-clock kitchen, the venue is a popular stop for partiers looking for late-night eats, especially on weekends when the pub turns into a rowdy dance party complete with local DJs spinning beats into the wee hours.

A unique combination of styles, a consistently vibrant atmosphere, and a constant flow of carefree patrons make Le Pub Saint Germain a don’t-miss spot for everything from after-work glasses of rosé and weekend brunch to all-night parties.

Tip from Lucas:

Pub Saint Germain is a fail-safe option when it comes to late-night eats. Whether it’s 10pm or 4am, the kitchen is always open.

  • Crowd

Local young professionals, American and international tourists, hungry partiers looking for late-night eats, sports fans for the games, and university students, early 20s to late 30s+.

  • Entertainment / Music

General playlist of loud pop music, with lounge music during Happy Hour. DJs Friday and Saturday nights. Flat-screen TV tuned to sports in the bar; projection screen in the lounge for larger events.

  • Food / Miscellaneous

Bar menu featuring brunch, cheeseburgers, and tartars. Happy Hour daily 6–8pm.

  • Prices

Prix fixe brunch €15, prix fixe lunch €17, à la carte items €13.50+. Beer €8.50, wine €5.80/glass or €18/bottle, cocktails €12.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

Anything goes: jeans and sneakers during the day to club gear, dresses, and button-downs at night.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

The bar is open 24/7, so it’s one of the only places in Paris with a consistently busy scene. Late nights are especially lively when hungry partiers flock in to take advantage of the round-the-clock menu.

  • Close By

Right around the corner is Prescription Cocktail Club (23 Rue Mazarine), a great place for more craft cocktails by expert mixologists.

Great for late-night, otherwise not worth it

Pub St Germain is definitely very trendy among American ex-pats and students. It's swanky, bigger than most of the neighboring bars, and has a key corner location so I imagine that explains its popularity. The prices are steep while the service is definitely below average. The Saint Germain neighborhood has so many quaint, typically Parisian bars where the drinks are just as good and the people-watching is just as ideal, that you shouldn't waste your time in this lovely area at The Pub. The one exception is if you're still looking for something to do at 4am. Then Pub St Germain is a savior--you can get a cocktail on the heated patio and enjoy watching the rest of Paris head home for the night.
Very cool spot...

The Pub has many levels and an attractive staff. We entered from the front and were brought to the back where we ate outside in a quintessentially narrow Parisian street. The server was very friendly and they have a great happy hour. We came back for a late night drink and saddled up to the bar where therevwas plenty of space and not crowded. We could actually hear each other talk!
