Alhambra Concert Venue / Theater

Producer Jean-Claude Auclair, behind the renovation of theater l'Européen at Place de Clichy, opened Alhambra in 2008 following two years of construction. The venue prides itself on hosting all genres of music – hip hop, rock, indie, pop, metal, jazz, variety, world music, opera, blues, and more – as well as plays, musicals, and children's shows. Past performers at Alhambra include: Calvin Harris, Xavier Rudd, Morrissey, Robbie Williams, The Walkmen, Roots Manuva, St. Vincent, and Glen Hansard.

Located in the hipster neighborhood surrounding Quai de Valmy in eastern Paris, Alhambra was built on the spot of a former theater-cinema for an association of French railway workers. Today, it sits about 600 spectators between the orchestra and balcony, making concerts and shows fairly intimate.

Its name is an homage to legendary musical hall Alhambra-Maurice Chevalier, inaugurated in 1866 just down the street and demolished in 1967 after having welcomed the likes of Mistinguett, Houdini, and, of course, Maurice Chevalier.
