Aug 29, 2014 —  Ahh, Paris, the city of l’amour. Rich with love and romance, the streets of Paris draw in visitors of all kinds from across the globe, ranging anywhere from traditional tourists to starry-eyed lovers. In order to appease visitors of all kinds, Nicolas Manac’h started his small sightseeing company called Midnight in Paris on Wheels.

Perfect for tourists and romantics alike, Manac’h takes his customers on tours of Paris in the backseat of his 1954 Citroën 2CV convertible. Known by the French as “La Deux Chevaux,” the 2CV was an exceptionally popular car in a time considered by many to be the highlight of French society in the twentieth century. For many French citizens, the car is the embodiment of this golden era for their country, and reminds them of the happiness and success of that time.

Manac’h provides his customers with high class and privileged private tours at a remarkably affordable price (tours range from €85 – €190 each for two people). He pays extremely careful attention to every aspect of his tours, from the special details he includes with his services (think champagne, music, roses, etc.) to the overall experience he gives each of his customers. His charismatic personality combined with his passion for the city makes him seem like a close family friend showing his buddies around the city rather than a run-of-the-mill tour guide. He shares his knowledge of Paris with all of his customers, delving into all of the city’s secrets for the tourists and playing up all of the romantic details for the couples.

But above all, Manac’h adapts his tours based on the customers sitting in the backseat of his car so that each tour is a unique and personal experience. Visitors leave his 2CV having seen the best of Paris through an incomparable tour filled with culture, fun, music, and Manac’h’s warm and hospitable services.

The most basic of Manac’h’s tours, the Monuments tour is a fun and unique way for tourists to see the sights of the city from the comforts of Manac’h’s vintage car. Manac’h drives customers around for 45 minutes at any time during the day or evening, and gives them the option to stop wherever they want to have Manac’h take photos of them on his professional camera.

In the Paris Secrets tour, customers spend an afternoon seeing the best parts of Paris hidden from the typical tourists.  Manac’h utilizes his life experiences and his research into the hidden treasures of the city to show visitors the best spots in Paris that only the locals know. To put the final icing on the cake, Manac’h includes a bottle of the finest French champagne and a beautiful red rose for the lady.

And finally, for the crème de la crème of his tours, Manac’h pulls out all the stops for the Midnight in Paris on Wheels tour. In addition to the champagne and the rose, Manac’h gives his customers the option of either using his antique Polaroid camera to take photos along the tour, or traveling to the Pont des Arts to lock a love-lock onto the bridge. Often called the lovers’ bridge, lovers from around the world travel to the Pont des Arts to place a padlock on the bridge’s parapet and throw the key into the river together, symbolizing their eternal love for one another. To make the experience complete, Manac’h offers the option of including a “mechanical failure” of his beloved 2CV to add even more excitement to the tour and make the gentleman the hero that saves the night for his lady.

Manac’h structures his company so that friends and couples alike will have the best sightseeing experience that Paris has to offer. Whether visitors want a romantic night in the city of love or just want to see all of the sights, everyone has the opportunity to split a bucket of champagne, lounge in the backseat of a vintage convertible, and tour around the city in style.
