It’s all about champagne wishes and caviar dreams at Ritz Bar and Bar Hemingway, two swanky venues offering decadent days and nights in the City of Light.
Located in the luxe Hotel Ritz Paris – a gold-detailed palace frequented by celebrities and royals – both bars cater to an affluent clientele looking to mingle with other fashionable high rollers.
Once frequented by Ernest himself – and featuring some of his original photographs – Bar Hemingway is a tiny oak-paneled room where stylish American tourists and jet-setters gather to enjoy mellow conversation with master mixologists and a pricey cocktail scene.
Guests looking for a posh nighttime spot can hop right across the corridor to Ritz Bar, a dark and spacious lounge decked out in red and gold furnishings, 19th-century antiques, and a stunning candelabrum suspended over the bar.
The exclusive crowd of Parisian hipsters and fashionistas slinks in around midnight to laze on velvet settees and sip signature cocktails like the popular Kashenka, a concoction of Polish vodka and strawberries, or to join the other designer-clad guests on the dance floor.
Clearly designed for the deep-pocket set or those simply in the mood to splurge, Bar Hemingway and Ritz Bar offer an entertaining peek into what amounts to the European version of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
Wealthy jet-setters, high rollers, fashionable American tourists, older hotel guests, and affluent creative types, early 20s to 40s.
Soothing ambient music in Bar Hemingway. Ritz Bar features DJs spinning everything from pop to electronic from 10pm Fridays and Saturdays and occasional Thursdays.
Same menu at both venues, featuring mini cheeseburgers, sushi rolls, and charcuterie plates.
À la carte menu €15+. Beer €13–€15, wine €17+, custom cocktails €30.
Dressy: Chanel, Dior, and anything goes, as long as it’s French and designer.
Friday and Saturday nights for the biggest crowds.
Le Magnifique (25 Rue de Richelieu) is run by the same promoters and features some of the DJs who play at the Ritz Bar.
