FISHNETS Dec 12, 2012 3.0 stars Johnny, la gente esta muy loca! This plaza is pretty much at the center of everything during the Festival of San Fermin and the above pictures of it empty do it no justice. During the festival days this is pretty much the meeting spot for everyone as the restaurants, clubs, bars and shops surrounding the plaza all keep their doors wide open and the music blaring as the crowds drunkenly stroll in and out buying bites to eat and more booze. I was only there on the first day, but my friend who had been there twice told me that after the first day it essentially becomes a cesspool of piss and vomit despite the city's best attempts to clean up after the international hard partyers traipsing through, spilling champagne, sangria and food all over the place. Which happens both accidentally and intentionally as the festival traditions require you to wear about as much alcohol as you ingest. By 2pm on the first day I was already able to take pictures of me and my friends posing with people who were passed out cold in the middle of the square on the grassy patches. While it may not be your cup of tea on the average day, during San Fermin you're there to party under unusual circumstance so embrace the experience because you're definitely not going to be able to avoid it.
