After the rocket is launched, a rambunctious (and mostly non-Spanish) crowd meets in the square of Navarrería, where they climb up a fountain and jump about fifteen feet down into the waiting arms of their friends below. Those who choose to jump should be aware that if they don’t dive head first, they’ll face the ridicule of their fellow jumpers. Jumpers might also want to keep in mind that they are putting their lives in the hands of a few less-than-sober people charged with keeping them safe. Although we strongly discourage participating in this activity, it is entertaining to watch. Fountain jumping takes place at other random times during the week when people seem to decide that running with the bulls isn’t dangerous enough.
