The U.S. Open tennis tournament in Flushing, Queens, New York is one of four Grand Slam tournaments played throughout the year and runs over a period of weeks in August and September. Xiaowei Yi May 8, 2013 If you are a tennis fan and you are lucky enough to live in NYC, then you have no excuse to miss the US Open, which is one of the four major Tennis Tournament in the world. Although the stadium locates a little bit far from Mahattan, during the game season, one can take L or 7 the express train to get there from the middle of the city in 30 minutes. The stadium is located in a park and the atmosphere there is great. The games and tennis stars are obviously attracts the most attentions in the park. However, if you are not lukcy enough to get a ticket to watch a game in Auther Ashe Stadium, it is not the end of the world. There is a great area in front of the main stadium with a huge screen showing the game that is playing in the stadium. Grab a piece of pizza or have some Ben & Jerry, sitting by the fountain and watching the game right outside from the stadium can be pleasant, too. Aside from that, American Express user can get a free audio headphone. There are also other fun parts aside from the intense game itself. The junior game is a great place to be to check out the future stars and the Tourist Center offers fun tennis game for kids to practice and try tennis. They even analysis your strokes and servings through a specialized machine there!
Southe0321 Oct 5, 2012 Ever since I was a little boy when I used to have a little book where I used to note down Agassi's match scores at the US Open, I have dreamed about being a spectator at the historic tournament and my dream finally came true in 2010 thanks to the largesse of my cousins who bought me a ticket to watch the semis and what a game it was! Djokovic - Federer game, I think till today goes down as one of the best matches to have ever taken place as it was a game where Federer was at his best and Djokovic had to fight every tooth, nail and sinew to get something out of the game and boy didn't he get something! It truly was a defining moment for Djokovic as he has been virtually unplayable since then. I have made a mental note to myself that every labor day weekend I should not matter what make my way to the US Open as it not only reminds me a piece of my childhood but also brings me to a place where the spectators truly appreciate the lovely game of tennis.
SamuelTodd14 Sep 13, 2012 The US Open 2012 had a great final. Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic played an epic battle. When Andy Murray jumped out to a two set lead it looked like it was all over for Djokovic --- but he battled back to tie the final at 2 sets all. Unforunately, Novak faded in the fifth set and Murray took it. It was nice to see Andy Murray win his first Grand Slam tournament. However, he didn't have to get by either Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal which certainly made life substantially easier for him. I won't discredit Murray's first slam win but without Rafa in the tournament it might deserve an asterisk. It should be an interesting 2013.
Matt Yee Sep 5, 2012 I love the US Open of Tennis. Truly one of America's great sporting events. Unlike the other Grand Slam Tournaments, we are treated to late night tennis in Primetime under the lights. The Gladiators of the sport take battle in Billie Jean King Tennis Center. Sad to see some of the greats take their final bows this year as both Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick have retired following their final matches at the US Open. One day, I'll make my way to Flushing Meadows and watch premier tennis. One Day.
