Brooklyn Bun Description

Brooklyn Bun is a combination 20K bike and 5K foot race held annually in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.

Normally scheduled for mid-April, the Brooklyn Bun course follows a circuit through the internal roads of the park, making a loop four times along Prospect’s Main Drive.

In order to avoid congestion, Brooklyn Bun competitors start in waves every ten seconds, with everyone’s time carefully monitored via their own individual timing chip.

Once the cycling portion is complete, Brooklyn Bun transitions to the 5K foot race, which also follows Main Drive and finishes in the Bartel Lot.

A relay and a 5K-only run are also offered in conjunction with the larger Brooklyn Bun race.

An awards ceremony is held at the race’s end, with all first-place finishers in each age group category receiving a $25 gift certificate. The overall male and female winners, meanwhile, receive a $75 gift certificate.

Brooklyn Bun fees range from $50–$75 depending on how early you register. Relay team fees range from $75–$90 and 5K-only fees range from $25–$30.
