On July 4th in Brooklyn, locals and fans from around the globe head to Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest to watch participants compete for the title of Men’s and Women’s Hot Dog Eating World Champion.

More than 40,000 people attend Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest every year and contest winners are awarded a $20,000 cash prize. Past winners of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest include Joey Chesnut, Sonya Thomas, Takeru Kobayashi, Jay Green and Steve Keiner. Attendees of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest are treated to a pre-contest live music show and a performance by the Coney Island Strongman.

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest is free to the public and takes place at Nathan’s Famous Flagship Restaurant in Coney Island, which is accessible by subway. The event is televised live on ESPN3 and on tape delay on ESPN.
