New York Fashion Week: Do’s, Don’ts, and Drinks

New York Fashion Week: Do’s, Don’ts, and Drinks

Comments  (2)

Sep 5, 2012 —  It’s that time of year again: Labor Day is officially over, wild Hampton’s parties have finally closed down, and anything white in your wardrobe gets moth-balled until Memorial Day.

But here at Party Earth, the fun never stops and Fashion Week in New York is the perfect excuse to start the last part of the year on the right foot.

First, some fashion tips for the fall. Please DO NOT triple trend, combine prints with leopard, don any potential wardrobe malfunctioning accoutrements, or slink around in heels you could break an ankle in. Cringe-worthy fashion faux pas are not why wandering eyes should be following you around.

Please DO fall in line behind spring 2013’s fashion icons with upcoming shows by all the heavyweights like Carolina Herrera, Diane von Fürstenberg, Vera Wang, and Ralph Lauren or the younger moguls-in-training nipping at their stiletto’d heels like Marissa Webb, Katya Leonovich, and Brandon Sun.

Whether you take in spring 2013’s style forecast first hand or you’re just trying to stay up to date with the latest season, it’s more than likely you’ll notice an influx of trendsetters (or followers) to the already booming NYC fashion industry in the next week.

And after long days being blinded by the camera pit’s flashes and getting distracted by sexy model’s legs that inspire fashion lines all on their own, there’s nothing better than hitting New York’s swankiest hotspots to flaunt those new threads in the way they were meant to be worn.

So put down the camera, put on your new digs, and go drink and dance with the world’s best looking people wearing the world’s most incredible looks.

    Pink Elephant

    Club

Pink Elephant - Club in New York.
After getting booted from Chelsea back in 2010, sparkler-strewn and models-and-bottles paradise Pink Elephant spent over two years off the NY club scene before returning in 2012 with a smaller, mildly gentler, but still glitzy incarnation. Hidden on a largely residential stretch of 8th Street, the venue requires its savvy guests to first descend

    Bar / Lounge

Electric Room - Bar | Lounge in New York.
Located in a former storage facility beneath the trendy Dream Downtown hotel, Electric Room is a tiny Chelsea hotspot that only a tiny few will ever be deemed worthy to see. Developed by Nur Kahn – the New York nightlife titan, not the eighth governor of West Pakistan – the venue is accessed either via a graffiti-laden loading entrance or a spiral

    Mister H

    Club / Lounge

Mister H - Club | Lounge in New York.
Although a neon sign by the bar clearly states that “this is not a brothel – there are no prostitutes at this address,” first-time visitors to Mister H could be forgiven for thinking this opium-den-meets-swanky-lounge might still offer a little ill repute. The venue’s location in the luxurious Mondrian Soho doesn’t give hotel guests any extra

    Hudson Terrace

    Rooftop Bar / Rooftop Lounge

Hudson Terrace - Rooftop Bar | Rooftop Lounge in New York.
Hidden behind an austere façade by the West Side docks is Hudson Terrace, one of the most sought-after hotspots in the city for twenty-somethings with money to burn. Unless they have a table reservation, hopeful guests can expect to wait in line before being escorted up a long flight of stairs into one of three destinations. The large, dimly-lit

    Westway

    Club

Westway - Club in New York.
Although the venue still has an awning reading “Westside Gentleman’s Club,” which confuses out of towners looking for a lap dance, Westway is now a fledgling nightclub helmed by Jane Ballroom nightlife impresarios Matt Kliegman and Carlos Quirarte. The duo retained much of the original décor, creating a sexy spot for the twenty-something clientele

    ACME

    Bar / Lounge / Restaurant

ACME - Bar | Lounge | Restaurant in New York.
Held over from the venue’s previous incarnation, a sign out front promises “authentic southern and Cajun cookin’,” but the trendy gals and hip locavores at ACME won’t find gumbo on the restaurant’s avant-garde Nordic menu, nor is there a trace of Louisiana in the chilled-out but über-exclusive downstairs lounge. Well-connected patrons pass through

Hotel Bar / Lounge / Rooftop Bar

A60 - Hotel Bar | Lounge | Rooftop Bar in New York.
A jewel box-sized lounge atop the bohemian chic 60 Thompson Hotel, A60 is a tiny, members-only hotspot where the views of New York are rivaled only by the stylish patrons. Entrance is mainly limited to hotel guests and card-carrying members, though mere mortals can gain access on Mondays based on availability. Split into two distinct sections,

La Esquina - Mexican Restaurant | Tequila Bar in New York.
One might not expect to find an A-list celebrity hotspot with an unlisted phone number lurking beneath a greasy spoon Mexican taqueria in the desolate No Man’s Land between SoHo and Little Italy, but that’s just one of many surprises in store at La Esquina. Opened in 2005, this basement den of debauchery still packs in a fashionable, and sometimes

1Oak may be perpetually “closed for a private event” – or so the super-exclusive club would like guests to believe – but for those in the know, the venue is very much open as long as patrons have a name to drop at the nearly impossible door. Once inside, the select crowd of models, promoters, celebrities, and Wall Street types are greeted by a
