One of New York City's most versatile spaces, the Highline Ballroom, named for the Meatpacking District's Highline Park, is a popular event space used for concerts that also operates as a nightclub. Featuring floor-level seating and a balcony, the 700- person ballroom hosts a variety of established musicians and developing acts for both private concerts and as a supplement to their club nights.

Past performers at Highline Ballroom include B.o.B, Joss Stone, Lauryn Hill, Lupe Fiasco, and Lou Reed. The club contains a full bar and offers a full menu, which is available for brunch and seated shows, with an abbreviated menu available for standing shows.

Tickets for Highline Ballroom are available online and at the door, with most events operating with a standing room set-up. In honor of its namesake park, twenty-five cents of each ticket sold is donated to the Highline Park Foundation. Street parking at Highline Ballroom is available but limited, making public transportation the best way to access the venue.

Jillian Liebman Apr 1, 2013 3.0 stars Enjoy the music...and the ambiance The Highline Ballroom is a venue that perfectly compliments whatever band you have tickets to see. The first floor is mainly a standing room with a few tables placed around the edge of the room. If you choose the standing room, and have the dedication, it’s easy to squirm your way to the front of the crowd. Standing so close to the band, everyone swaying in unison, is a community experience. If standing is not your scene, then ascend the stairs to the second level, where you will have a bird’s eye view of the band. The tables throughout the venue are first come, first serve, and if you are lucky enough to grab one you need to be sure you are ordering food or drinks, as they have a minimum to stay seated. Don’t worry too much, however, both their food and drinks are superb. When I went, I chose to enjoy the music coupled with food, while sitting on the balcony level. I had a well-rounded experience and a great view.

cmc Apr 1, 2013 2.0 stars Eh... take it or leave it... But I'd say leave it. Went here once for some 80’s/ 90’s mashup night thing. I think the cover was 20 bucks, which is whatever, but once I finally got in there were a bunch of Napoleon complexed “bouncers” who were trying to move people up the stairs like moving people up stairs was going on out style. I’ve heard the dress code is kind of strict but I saw guys with fitteds and tees on and girls with jeans, so my advice is to overdress if you don’t think you’re cool enough to get in underdressed. The Ballroom itself is pretty roomy but the stage is kind of short so if you’re in the back and a person of the shorter persuasion, sucks for you. There are comfy leather couches near the door and bar for all you tipsy folk or for the playas who wanna get they mack on. (Ladies is pimps too though). As far as drink prices go, you can’t really complain because of the neighborhood. There was a diverse group of patrons the night I went which is always welcome. That was about the only plus though. Probably won’t go back if I have the choice but if you like being harassed by ankle biting bouncers, this is the joint for you.
