New York Valentine's Day Overview

It’s not entirely clear how a feast intended to honor a Christian saint named Valentine became a holiday dedicated to romantic dinners, chocolate covered strawberries, and poignant Hallmark cards. But every year on February 14th, couples from Park Avenue to Brooklyn come together to celebrate their relationships.

On Valentine’s Day 2018, New York City couples enjoy a plethora of fantastic date options. During the day head to Times Square to witness the extravagant public displays of affection ranging from billboards containing marriage proposals to eager couples actually tying the knot. For dinner, those lucky enough to get reservations in advance make googly eyes across tables at Nobu or Tao, while couples looking for a less conventional date can enjoy scenic views and a little dancing on a moonlit cruise across the Hudson.

Ironically, Valentine’s Day in New York may be one of the best nights of the year for the city’s single and ready to mingle population. Every year the hottest eligible bachelors and bachelorettes flock to clubs and bars across the city in a vehement protest against monogamy. In fact in 2016 the Anti-Valentine’s Day celebrations are among the best Valentine’s Day parties in New York.
