Jun 14, 2012 — It’s easy to spend a ton of money in New York.
Sure, the subway is still cheaper than most major cities and you just about walk everywhere anyway – an activity that’s free even in caustically overpriced Manhattan – but it only takes a few trips to MOMA and a pair of Broadway tickets to guarantee you’ll be subsisting on ramen until the next pay period.
And don’t get us started on the average rent for an apartment so small you can kick the fridge closed while sitting on the can. Or the fact that some flapper-clad muddler-weaving swizzle master (bartender) spends fifteen minutes making a glorified rail drink topped with pygmy loganberries and refined pomegranate skins (ingredients they totally made up) and then charges you $20 for a glass so small…it’d fit in your apartment.
So what’s a budget-minded dater to do in a city home to some of the world’s most exclusive clubs, fanciest restaurants, and million dollar parking spaces?
Well, first you should do an internet search for the parking space story, because it’s totally true, and then you should spend a few minutes checking out these fun New York bars and unique venues that can make for a great date in The Big Apple – minus the sour prices.
