The Governors Ball Music Festival Description

The Governors Ball Music Festival - Music Festival in New York.

Randall’s Island – a water locked part of Manhattan – doesn’t even take up a square mile of land, but hosts one of the biggest music festivals New York City has to offer during the summertime.

The Governors Ball Music Festival (founded in 2011) provides New Yorkers and tourists a chance to see some of the best musicians the world has to offer; past performers of The Governors Ball Music Festival include Girl Talk, Pretty Lights, Passion Pit, Kid Cudi, Fiona Apple, Beck, and Modest Mouse.

Between sets of their favorite artists’ tunes, guests can enjoy the unique scenery of Randall’s Island while playing one of the many free games at The Governors Ball Music Festival including corn hole, ping pong, bocce ball, life-size connect four, and ladder ball.

After playing an intense game of corn hole, attendees can refill their water bottle at one of the eight refillable water stations before hopping over to one of the state-of-the-art photo booths to capture a goofy snapshot. Picture-takers get an immediate printout, can post to directly to Facebook to make their friends jealous, or save a .GIF file for later.

If guest are feeling restless after sitting in the photo booth, the Silent Disco – powered by hundreds of super lightweight wireless headphones that emit crystal clear sound – is a chance for them to get their dance on as a live DJ performs.

The Governors Ball Music Festival is always one of the most fun summertime jamborees for fans of any kind of music. Randall’s Island is accessible by subway, bus, bike, shuttle, ferry, and walking. It is strongly suggested that you do not drive to The Governors Ball Music Festival, as parking is limited.

Tickets for The Governors Ball Music Festival normally begin around $220 for 3-day passes and $470 for 3-day VIP passes. Transportation passes for all three days are also available, starting around $45 for the Manhattan Ferry.

With hundreds of people running around trying to make it to see their favorite artists and bands, Governor's Ball is overall a great festival to attend. With four stages set up and different artists performing at each venue, it makes it difficult to decide who you would like to watch first. The people are fun, energetic and ready to dance to their favorite bands and artists. There is easy access to the park, and if you don't want to waste anymore money, you have the option of walking across the bridge. It's approximately a fifteen minute walk and a beautiful view. Since the festival is an all day event, it's great to bring a snack, but there are also food tents available for you to enjoy throughout the day.
