Running for 16 days from mid-September and well into October, Oktoberfest NYC is the New York incarnation of this famed German celebration of beer, and occurs at bars and beer gardens all over the city.
Although Munich’s original beer festival is still the largest – attracting some five million people every year – the collective involvement of so many different NY venues promises much to see, drink, eat, and drink some more, and prospective patrons should check the official Oktoberfest NYC website for the latest updates on what establishments are taking part in the festivities.
Beer specials, authentic Bavarian bands, and lots of traditional grub are easy to find during Oktoberfest NYC, from the famed potato pancakes at The Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria to seven kinds of heart attack-inducing sausage piled high at Radegast Hall & Biergarten in Brooklyn.
Oktoberfest NYC fees vary depending on where you end up, but finding everything from budget-friendly college haunts to more upscale – but still stein worshipping – locales will not be difficult.
Authentic live bands at Oktoberfest NYC are often booked to play at the many establishments taking part, so you can dance to lots of oompah oompah and polka beats too!
Grab your dirndls and knickerbockers and head to one of the great NYC beer gardens and bars celebrating Oktoberfest NYC!
