New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival Description

Since 2011, conservationists and film buffs have met for screenings of international conservation films at the annual New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival. For four days at the end of January to the beginning of February, the New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival shows short films and documentaries from around the world that highlight current projects and the need for animal conservation. The New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival is held each year at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City.

Past films showcased at the New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival include Kate Miller’s In the Eye of the Whale, Ralph Stutchbury’s The Lion Tree, Andrew Stevenson’s Where the Whales Sing, and Lucy Cooke’s Meet the Sloths. Top conservationists, naturalists, and journalists come to speak at the festival with past participants including people like E.O. Wilson and Bob Simon of 60 Minutes. Before the screenings, animal lovers and conservationists can rub elbows with leading scientists at the WCFF Opening Reception, held each year at a popular restaurant or bar like I Tre Merli.

Tickets to screening series at the New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival cost about $18 each. For access to all films at the festival, diehard film buffs opt for the Film Festival Pass at around $175 per person, which includes all films, panel discussions, and the WCFF Opening Reception. Tickets to the Opening Reception fundraiser cost about $75 each, while access to the Awards Ceremony and panel discussions cost about $40 per person. After catching great conservationist films, fill up on eco-friendly food and drinks at the restaurants and cafés nearby in SoHo.
