Trombone Shorty is the stage name of Troy Andrews, a trombone and trumpet player born in New Orleans in 1986. A trombonist since just six years of age, Andrews is a member of the funk/pop/jazz/hip-hop band Orleans Avenue.

As a solo artist, he has performed with the likes of Lenny Kravitz and U2, has made several appearances on the HBO show Treme, and performed the National Anthem for the 2012 NFL playoff game between the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons.

His 2010 solo album, Backatown, reached number one on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart.

Other group and solo albums include It's About Time in 2003 (with the Stooges Brass Band), 12 & Shorty in 2004 (a collaboration with his musician brother James), and 2005’s Orleans & Claiborne (with Orleans Avenue).
