Gotham Comedy Club Information

Gotham Comedy Club - Comedy Club in New York.

Gotham Comedy Club is a stand-up comedy venue in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.

The club, which opened in 1996 and then again in 2006 at a new location, has featured some of the most famous names in comedy like Jerry Seinfeld, Dane Cook, and Dave Chappelle. Photos of these famous performers and others hang in the club’s entrance.

The Gotham Comedy Club has had many noteworthy television appearances. The venue is used to film Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham television show, and NBC’s Last Comic Standing auditions are held there each year. The club was also featured in the pilot of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Events at the Gotham Comedy Club include a New Talent Showcase intended to help striving comedians jumpstart their careers. The club also offers stand-up comedy workshops for novice comedians.

The comedy club has made both the main showroom and their Vintage Lounge available for private events and parties holding up to 300 guests.

Alex Pollakoff Apr 12, 2013 4.0 stars Small, personable, and full of laughs! I've been here a few times, and I have never been disappointed. First of all, the main hall only seats 250 people, so there is never a bad seat in the house. How can there be? You can get in promptly, and aside from the steep prices for drinks and food, the shows get started almost right away. The promoters here never let down, as I have seen both amateur and professional comics perform here, all to a warm welcome by a really comedy-intelligent audience. The hidden gem to Gotham is if you go to a New Talent mic, hosted at least twice a month by the Manhattan Comedy School, there is always bound to be someone special who drops by. I have been surprised to see Jim Gaffigan, Louis C.K., and even Jerry Seinfeld stop by to try out some new material, which is always unbelievable. With a relatively cheap cover (15 dollars usually) this is not a place to miss!
