Party Earth Alphabet Lounge Review

The Scene

Alphabet Lounge’s location a few blocks beyond the East Village’s throbbing club and bar scene gives this dance club and music venue an added air of exclusiveness.

Past the curtained windows and velvet rope, patrons will find a wide single room packed with dancing downtown party girls, upscale hip-hop types, and affluent entertainment professionals engaged in the venue’s favorite pastimes – namely, flirting good-naturedly over blaring rap remixes, cuddling on black leather banquettes, and making eyes at each other at the tiled bar seductively aglow with yellow lamps and candlelight.

Special events range from big private birthday parties to weekend-long 80s nights, complete with cheesy movies from the decade projected on a screen.

A railed-off elevated area houses a small VIP alcove and a DJ booth, hung with black-and-white photos of the neighborhood, where large groups of giggling girlfriends enjoy bottle service to a background of flashing strobe lights and thumping bass.

A stylish venue tempered with Greenwich Village funkiness, Alphabet Lounge is a cool local club staple in a dive-dominated neighborhood.

The Alphabet Lounge is a small cute bar. What makes this bar any different from all the other bars n avenue C is their prices. they have a really good $8 martini, which is not a bad price (especially for New York City) the bar is also candle lit so it's a cool spot for friends to hang out and fun for about an hour, or you could even have a cute little date there. The seating isn't the greatest, but then again how many bars have awesome seating

It's hard to be unbiased at a place like Alphabet Lounge, because my personal experiences have always been negative. They once entirely replaced the bill surrounding my band (my band plays satanic metal, so suddenly being on an indie rock bill was a bad scene) and repeatedly told me to come by on nights they were closed. In general, this place is incredibly far off the beaten path for a very typical dance club with very typical dance parties, dance music, and dance crowd. It has a real suburban feel to it, with either older patrons escaping their lives or younger ones there...for some reason. Not to sound like a dick, but honestly, I wouldn't put myself through going to Alphabet Lounge unless it was truly necessary.
