Jun 19, 2012 — Expectations in New York are always very high when it comes to the city’s sports teams. The Giants are still riding their Super Bowl wave, the Yankees are perpetually in contention, and the Rangers are one of the best teams in hockey.
But when it comes to basketball, the city’s expectations are even more exacerbated; and with almost 40 straight years of the Knicks coming up short, New Yorkers are just jones’n for some good hoops.
Enter the NBA Finals. Yes, Lebron’s unrequited love still stings, but you can’t help but admire what the man does on the court. And Kevin Durant – he’s only 23 and has already usurped the mantle from Carmelo as league’s best pure shooter – sorry Knicks fans.
So if you’re looking for some good old fashioned roundball, even when your team isn’t involved, we’ve dug up a few New York sports bars that are certain to leave you hooting and hollering regardless of who’s playing.
Oh, and the Mets will probably be on TV too.
