Party Earth Review Spanning sixteen thousand square feet over three floors, Stout NYC is an immense but homey Irish pub usually filled with a bustling crowd of young professionals – not to mention the yells of rowdy University of Texas football fans who have made the pub their official hangout on fall Saturday afternoons. Originally designed ... more

Ale House / Bar
Party Earth Review Discreetly concealed behind a nondescript awning lined with blue Christmas lights lies d.b.a., a no-frills alehouse featuring over 250 international beers. On weekday evenings, the place is generally packed with a slightly older crowd of forty-something business people who line up at the long wood bar to sip rare whiskeys ... more

Bar / Lounge / Restaurant
Party Earth Review Although its first-come first-served door policy is deadly serious, Death & Co.’s mix of cocktail den class and warm personality makes this sleek lounge far more welcoming than its name suggests. A chic clientele of suited financiers and fashionable model types are ushered through large wooden doors and black drapes into ... more

Party Earth Review Charmingly dingy and as quirky as the movie it’s named after, Heathers is a welcoming retreat for a diverse clientele who can appreciate the color-changing Christmas light shrine to Stevie Nicks and the collection of Hall & Oates album covers on display by the bar. Not much more than a small, square room beyond unmarked ... more

Party Earth Review Although some might consider this tiny neighborhood bar to be the less flashy sister of fellow Niagara Group venue The Cabin Down Below, Lovers of Today is actually a lively little cocktail den serving up delectably inventive concoctions and an assorted mix-tape of tunes to an edgy, creative clientele. Housed in a converted ... more

Bar / Irish Pub
Party Earth Review The Tompkins Square Park area might not be the first place one would expect to find an authentic Irish pub experience, but that’s just what St. Dymphna’s delivers, from the craft beer on tap to the wine list scrawled on a chalkboard trimmed with Christmas lights. Blissfully free of beer ads and shamrocks, the narrow bar ... more

Bar / Club / Live Music Venue
Party Earth Review It’s not hard to see how Webster Hall came to be known as the first modern nightclub – since its inception back in 1886, this multilevel space has shown a chameleon-like ability to transform from dance hall to live music venue or from hip-hop hangout to salsa palace. Once past the door and into the foyer ... more

Party Earth Review Despite its popularity with Armani-clad Wall Streeters, Bar Seven Five in the Andaz Hotel is an unpretentious and informal locale perfect for after-work drinks. Bar / Live Music Venue
Party Earth Review An oddly prominent underground music venue with large windows that let passersby see who’s on stage, Rockwood Music Hall hosts a full roster of up-and-coming indie artists and singer/songwriters that draws a loyal clientele of music lovers. Everyone knows that the bars in New York are second to none, and anyone who can’t find a bar to suit their personality probably doesn’t love bars all that much. Whether people are in the mood for cutting edge cocktails, tourist-laden chain bars, authentic Irish joints, or the chicest rooftop bars on the planet, NYC has it all – with new drinking dens popping up every day.
Over in Chinatown and the East Village, hip, alternative trendsetters head to hole-in-the-wall bars, dirty dives, and DIY upstarts to down cheap beer, while the city’s sports culture is well represented by hundreds of New York bars all over where fun-loving, more mainstream crowds show up to watch the Yankees, Jets, Knicks, and countless other teams over a few friendly brews.
The fashion set and hipsters with money make the Meatpacking District the place to be for late-night drinking, Hell’s Kitchen is a flourishing artist’s community packed with cozy bars and warm hangouts, and the stunning rooftop bars in Chelsea cater to A-list celebrities and A-list wannabes with money to burn.
Of course, it’s not just New York proper where the bar scene is the stuff of legend, as Brooklyn has long been a vibrant area that still stands apart as a less expensive alternative to exorbitantly priced Manhattan. But even though the price of beer is cheaper in BK, the party isn’t any less intense, with DIY bars, choice wine bars, student dives, and classic old speakeasies all over town.
