Ask any local in Munich where the most extensive nightlife scene is and they’re sure to mention Kunstpark Ost.

Once the site of a noodle factory, the massive area has since been transformed into the largest nightlife and entertainment complex in Europe and currently houses around fifty different venues including clubs, bars, cinemas, skate parks, and arcades.

The area has recently been expanded and separated into two distinct nightlife complexes – Kultfabrik, which appeals to a younger, rowdier set, and Optimolwerke, which lends itself to a more refined and upper scale crowd.

KULTFABRIK is the older of the two complexes and is the one located closest to the Ostbahnhof station, where streams of teenagers disembark for a full night of partying.

Spread throughout the various buildings of an old factory, the complex is home to more than a dozen bars and clubs that blast out every kind of music imaginable, from rock and pop to hip-hop, and that have become a haven for young and wild groups of partiers dying to test out their dance moves on a big club night.

Depending on the place, revelers have their pick of events on a nightly basis, ranging from kitschy themed venues, salsa, and burlesque, to large techno and house clubs pumping out heavy beats.

The establishments are all packed tightly together, so if one spot is slow, there’s always a better option just ten feet away.

OPTIMOLWERKE is Kultfabrik’s newer, trendier, and smaller cousin that is more about quality than quantity. This complex attracts an older crowd looking for a sleeker night out at a variety of upscale bars and clubs.

Music varies from venue to venue, but on any given night, smartly dressed patrons are bound to find live bands and DJs playing rock, hip-hop, techno, 80s, heavy metal, and everything in between.

On summer days, many of the complex’s venues feature outdoor terraces and beer gardens where stylish groups gather to eat and have cocktails.

On the weekends, the area is also home to a flea and antique market, where bargain hunters can find everything from furniture to art.

The Place to be for Halloween
Genevieve L. Nov 23, 2013
Kultfabrik and Optimolwerke are top of the list for places to seek a fun night out for everyone. Over the summer, like many locations in Munich, the extensive options of bars and clubs extend their services outside to take advantage of the welcomed balmy weather. With covered couches and a full bar, plus no cover charge, it's hard to beat this nightlife heaven. However, the best event to attend, especially if you want to dress up in your favorite Mad Hatter or bloody zombie costume, is Halloween. This is one of the only places in all of Munich in which you can celebrate the holiday as it should be, in an adult appropriate manner. The entire area is roped off, with one entrance, thus only one surprisingly cheap cover charge for all the varieties of festivities. Venders selling Doner, fries and, of course, bier and cocktails line the passages between bars. Even scary mascots are posted throughout, though thankfully most won't jump out at you as you walk by. Each destination, like any other night, caters to a different crowd. Some pump EDM to a youthful pack, undulating and scantily dressed. Others blast top 40 hits, hip/hop, or oldies but goodies, with dance floors, elevated platforms or merely sitting room at the bar, thus guaranteeing a good time for anyone of any age. October isn't just about Oktoberfest in Munich (although if you've been to Oktoberfest, you know that most of that renowned festival is held in September). Make sure to check out the bars and clubs lining Optimalwerke and Kultfabrik for Halloween. Coming from an American who loves this holiday more than any other, this event will satiate your need.
Great Night

I've heard about this area which was one of the best in nightlife in Munich, and decided I had to get there. Very easy to find; you can find the access from the subway with no big problems. I caught the train to the local station and walked for about 5 minutes before arriving in this giant factory-looking facility. Inside the main gates you can head down a number of alleys, each of them littered with bars, clubs and restaurants. During the search, a number of clubs offered free drink cards etc to get us in the door. Think we visited 7 different bars and clubs and had a fantastic night and I would love to go back, one of the highlights of Munich for mine. Highlight - Porno vodka. I was given free porno vodka on entry. they give you a shot of vodka, and a little packet of flavoured sherbert. You empty the sherbert into your mouth and then shot the vodka to wash it down. I haven't seen anything like it prior or since, but they were amazing.
Kendrick Lamar Concert

We tought that poetry was dead but its is not like this. Poetry in Music, you can find it in the music of the young artist and new hip hop revelation Kendrick Lamar, his european tour amazed his fans and people who thought that Hip Hop was only commercial nowadsays, in his music reality and dreams meet up creating excellent vibes that touch our souls . K.Lamar showed us how Lyrics in music can be powerful, how notes can lift up minds and spirits to another level, how music unite people of all colors, races and backgrounds. We share our support to him and who still produce and love music, and first of all , thanks to the beautiful city of Munich to bring to us amazing artists.
so much to do!!!

Kultfabrik is the go to place for young teens! I went there starting at age 14 until age 17. It's sooo so much fun and the great thing is that it's not just one club, its a strip of about twenty! New years is the best there because there is so much to do, so many people and always a good time. After 12 it changes from age 16 to age 18 club. It's still a great time and I usually go there with my younger friends if there's nothing else going on since I'm a little older now. I highly recommend it though! Seriously, SO MUCH TO DO there!
