Allianz Arena Stadium

The Allianz Arena is a football (soccer) stadium located in northern Munich. Both of Munich’s professional football teams, FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 München, play their home games at the Allianz Arena.

Allianz Arena was opened in 2005 and has a capacity for close to 70,000 spectators.

The panels that form the façade of the Allianz Arena are individually lit up in either red or white depending on the home team playing at the time. This lighting concept was subsequently adopted by other stadiums including the MetLife Stadium in New York, which lights up blue for the Giants and green for the Jets.

The round shape of Allianz Arena and its outer panels inflated with dry air have led to its being dubbed the “inflatable boat.”

Past concerts at Allianz Arena have included ZZ Top, Metalocalypse, UB40, The Hidden Cameras, and Status Quo.
