City Center, Munich –
Tucked away in the sleek Fünf Höfe shopping center, Vapiano is a bar and restaurant that provides an oasis for fashionable young professionals and shoppers in search of a hip lunch spot or a cocktail or two.
The chic red-and-white décor perfectly complements the simple space, which consists of two distinct areas: The downstairs lounge is popular for aperitifs, while the upstairs area contains a full bar with an impressive selection of wines, as well as an Italian restaurant where diners order food at different stations before grabbing a seat at one of the large communal tables.
Patrons shouldn’t be fooled by this casual self-service style, however – the focus is clearly on freshness and quality, and the venue's concept allows the chefs to prepare every meal to order.
By day, Vapiano provides a relaxing respite from the busy city center, while later on the space gets loud and bustling with a chatty and stylish pre-club crowd.
Shoppers, fashionable young professionals, and pre-clubbers, early 20s and up.
Lounge music and people-watching.
Italian and Mediterranean menu includes fresh appetizers, salads, pizzas, and pasta. Patrons are given a plastic Vapiano card upon entering; all food and beverage purchases are tallied on this card to be paid upon leaving.
Appetizers €2.50–€7.50, pizzas €6–€9, pasta €6–€9. Beer €3–€6, wine €3.50–€9.50, cocktails €5+.
Come as you are.
Any day for lunch, or Wednesdays through Saturdays for dinner when the trendy pre-club crowd shows up. Large groups should arrive before 8pm to get a table.
