Irish Pubs in Munich

There isn’t an endless supply of Irish pubs in Munich, but those on the hunt for some Guinness and Kilkenny aren’t completely left out in the cold.

If the myriad beer halls are growing old, maybe exactly what you need are some unpretentious Irish pubs. Kilians Irish Pub offers an authentic atmosphere and an animated crowd, as well as a distinctive Irish vibe that’s helped along by the décor of shamrocks, Guinness posters, rustic tables, and lots of green – not to mention a welcome absence of TVs, which puts the focus on conversation and good company. Kennedy's Bar & Restaurant, meanwhile, is owned by the same folks behind Kilians, and is consistently packed with a happy crowd of revelers.

But no matter which Munich Irish pubs you venture to, the venues offer a unique Irish experience with a wee bit of German influence. Many have great live musicians playing classic Irish music early in the week, then transition to DJs on the weekends to keep the festive college crowd happy. Others mix in a selection of German beer with the Irish stalwarts. For those with discerning tastes for the hard stuff, Irish Folk Pub is also a good one to check out, as it was Munich’s first Irish pub and has a solid selection of fine whiskey to go with the frothy pints.
