The Kesselhaus, or Boiler Room, is located in northern Munich in the Freimann Harthof district.
The history of the building in which Kesselhaus is located goes back to the early twentieth century. Originally a factory for turbines, tractors and locomotives, in 1925 operations expanded to also include a railway workshop. Despite heavy damage in WWII the factory remained functional until 1995 when it was closed. It remained closed and abandoned for 10 years.
In 2007 Kessehaus reopened in its present state as a venue for concerts of both European and International rock and pop. The renovated building still retains elements of its original construction including the old brick chimney.
Performances at Kesselhaus have included acts by, Simple Plan, the Cranberries, Sting, The John Butler Trio, Kruder and Dorfmeister and Snoop Dogg.
Capacity at Kessehaus is around 1,000 people.
