Party Earth Review Patrons should be prepared to stay on their toes until the wee hours if they go to Cohibar City, a vibrant Cuban bar packed wall to wall with an energetic crowd that has no intention of sitting this dance out. Located in a basement off Maximilianstrasse, the bar’s dim lighting, pictures of Che Guevara, and rum-filled shelves give the place a true Cuban feel – and in fact, it is just that expansive selection of rums that draws an attractive international clientele. Well-known for its salsa parties, potent cocktails, and upbeat vibe, Cohibar City guarantees an evening of socializing and salsa dancing with a fashionable and friendly crowd. ... more
On the surface, the cultural life of Munich may seem quite…German. However, a slight scratch at the surface reveals a diverse international mix of activities for visitors and locals alike.
Salsa clubs in Munich are not as common as one would hope, but they are growing in numbers.
In the center of town is Cohibar City – one of the hottest salsa clubs in Munich – where an international crowd gathers for weekly salsa parties and potent cocktails. Free salsa lessons are offered every Wednesday evening.
Also in the city center is the Cuban bar Buena Vista. The atmosphere here is a bit more laid back, but the haunt has a full menu of Caribbean food, cocktails, and salsa dancing. Free salsa lessons are offered every Sunday evening.
Out of the city center and in the middle of Schwabing is Max Emanuel. This is more of a Bavarian-style wirsthaus and the crowd is rather mature, but the joint has a large dance floor and offers salsa classes many nights a week.
For those in search of salsa dancing lessons without the club vibe, Salsa Club München and Learn 2 Salsa are two options.
