City Center, Munich –
A live music and dance club, Atomic Café offers a cool change of pace from many of the city’s more upscale venues. The alternative vibe created by a décor of bright pink walls, low red lighting, and modish touches attracts a stylishly eclectic international crowd looking to dance the night away and listen to a varied mix of music.
The space’s small size makes for a more intimate – and definitely more cramped – clubbing experience, and patrons will undoubtedly be drawn onto the dance floor by the swirl of rainbow-colored lights, pulsating music, and energetic young crowd.
Guests shouldn’t be put off by the empty dance floor early in the evening – the club doesn’t heat up until midnight, so it’s enough to lay low and join the other young patrons sipping beer on retro couches and rocking out to the live music that takes place almost every night.
Besides hosting a variety of international artists, Atomic Café is also one of the few places in Munich where local and international DJs come to show off their stuff for fans of drum and bass, which helps give this club a cool atmosphere with an undeniable energy.
Stylish hipsters, and alternative and artsy types, 20s and 30s.
Music varies nightly from drum and bass to funk and Britpop. Frequent live concerts by internationally acclaimed artists. Check the website for dates and tickets.
Sweets, snacks, and sandwiches. Happy Hour 10–11pm (9–10pm before concerts).
Concerts €10–€30. Cover charge €6/weekends. Menu €2+. Beer €3.40–€4, mixed drinks €7.50.
Casual, on the trendy hipster side.
Weekends are busiest. Fills up by midnight.
The nearby Hofbräuhaus (Platzl 9) serves as a perfect pre-party location.
