Party Earth Soda Review

The Scene

A vibrant Café located on the corner of two busy streets near the university, Soda draws a sizable and steady crowd all day and night.

A vibrant café located on the corner of two busy streets near the university, Soda draws a sizable and steady crowd all day and night. A natural meeting place for book-laden students, the café also attracts young, smartly-dressed professionals tapping away on their iPhones.

Dark, rustic furnishings, crystal chandeliers, and a big, well-stocked bar provide a stark contrast to the simple and clean white-tiled walls, while low mood lighting creates a cozy vibe.

Mornings find the venue packed to the rafters as hungry patrons flock in for a hearty Bauernfrühstuck (farmer’s breakfast) or a bowl of organic, traditional Swiss muesli.

The scene heats up at Soda at night as young dating couples and gregarious groups show up to take advantage of the daily cocktail special and, in summer, do a little people-watching from the comfy wicker chairs on the sidewalk.

Tip from Emma:

Stop in during the late afternoon for a fresh, organic carrot and apple juice and a good read from the wall-long rack of magazines and newspapers – free for patrons. If you stick around long enough, order the cocktail of the day – they’re potent!

Soda, Schwabing window

Perhaps, if you are for the first time in Schwabing, you would notice how charming this blocks between the barer and the lepold streets are. You must multiply ten times this impression to know what the summer here really is. You know how things are: Germany has 10 months of winter and 4 or 5 unforgetable days of "Richtig summer". And is on these few days when you can see Munich in its splendour: flowers and fountains in every corner and specially you will love this corner of the Soda, because where you before saw a serious girl dressing dark heavy clothes and hardly looking at anyone, now you see a beautiful almost naked and perfectly sun-burned sniling girl, who will toast to your care, because of course she is drinking a beer. As I arrived the first time I invited a girl to have a coffe she told me "why coffe? is beer not good enough for you?". I make my statment: Soda is not a place to eat (the pizza is great, and really afordable) not to drink (besides the beer of course, the house coktails I can recommend) but a place to see the Munich society show passing by. I don't mean fancy, but the social schwabing web, formed by young art students, old former art students, and art lovers who perhaps didn't go to the Academy but resignated making a little bussines between, trying to capture the attention of the beautiful ladies who live in Lehel and are able to pay 250 Euros to see La Traviata for the x time- Opera where sings (not in the first role, but some day) one of the waiters of Soda Cafe, who obviously had a degree in dramatic singing.
