Maxvorstadt, Munich –
News junkies will want to stop by the hip and trendy News Bar, a sociable spot where a young intellectual crowd gathers to hang out over lattes and cocktails and discuss world events.
An enormous rack of magazines and newspapers that takes up one wall keeps the clientele up to date on the latest news, but despite the bar’s theme, patrons shouldn’t expect a dull and studious atmosphere a la the Bloomberg Ticker.
While there’s always a fair share of people reading the paper, the café is lively and draws a particularly good crowd from Wednesday to Sunday.
The morning breakfast attracts a steady regular clientele, while afternoons are popular with students in need of a coffee break between classes. Once the sun goes down, News Bar transforms into a restaurant and bar where patrons put down the magazines and pick up a cocktail.
This just in: The modern décor, warm colors, and large windows, as well as the outgoing customers, all add up to a relaxed and friendly environment at News Bar.
Young professionals and students, casual but well put together, mostly under 30. Older patrons typically pop in during the morning for breakfast.
Magazines and newspapers. Ambient music of various genres.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served until midnight. Menu includes soups, hamburgers, baked potatoes, and pasta.
Breakfast €1.60+, most menu items under €9. Beer €3–€4, wine €3.70.
Most crowded Wednesdays through Sundays.
