Its name might sound fattening, but Lardy is more like a nice Irish pub where exuberant Germans gather to eat Spanish tapas and dance to great American music. This peculiar mix of international elements obviously appeals to the lively clientele, as the bar is regularly packed with revelers.
The exposed brick walls, dark wood accents, and low lighting create a seductive and stylish atmosphere for patrons who arrive early for dinner and then stick around for the late-night festivities.
As the evening wears on, the venue turns into an animated bar with a dance floor full of high-energy party lovers who enjoy conversing over drinks as much as they do singing and dancing to classic hits.
The main bar keeps the beer flowing into the wee hours, and there are plenty of nooks to relax in when taking a break from the floor – and in the summer, the bar opens its terrace to provide even more seating in a laid-back environment.
Patrons should be aware that a bouncer starts working the door at 8pm and has been known to turn people away, but those who enter Lardy are in for an upbeat night with great food, drinks, and a spirited crowd – and are likely to stay longer than they expected.
Lively and outgoing, late 20s and 30s.
A DJ plays great American favorites and classics from the 70s and 80s.
German menu combined with traditional Spanish tapas. Happy Hour daily 7–8pm.
Menu €4–€15, tapas €4+. Beer €3.20+, mixed drinks €8.50+.
Anything goes.
The bar is most packed Thursdays through Saturdays.
