Schwabing, Munich –
One of the most popular bars in the Schwabing neighborhood, Barschwein’s inexpensive drinks and trendy setting attract a lively, outgoing clientele of college students and young professionals.
The casual yet hip décor features bright orange walls, a long black bar, low lighting, and some seating, although the space is so often packed wall to wall that sitting isn’t even an option. An upstairs area provides a foosball table and another bustling bar, though the extra space does little to alleviate the rowdy crush of patrons.
Despite the limited elbow room and ear-splitting music, Barschwein’s close quarters and affordable cocktails combine to create a high-energy, sociable atmosphere perfect for the flirty patrons who want nothing more than to mingle, meet new people, and dance on the tables.
Energetic, outgoing students and young professionals, early 20s+.
Mixed, with a focus on dance and pop hits. Frequent karaoke nights, check venue website for schedule.
No food. The bar carries Früh Kölsch, a special type of beer from Cologne. Barschwein works on a card system; drink cards are issued at the door, purchases are tallied on the card, and patrons pay the tab upon leaving.
Beer €2+, cocktails €5+, Früh Kölsch €1.20.
Completely packed on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and the weekends, especially after 9pm. Check the website for special events and sports.
