Party Earth Review A stone’s throw away from the ever-popular – and nearly identical – Dubliners and O’Connell St. pubs, O’Neill’s offers patrons much of the same in the way of rowdy Irish-charged revelry, but with considerably more space to party. English-speakers from all over the world dominate ... more

Irish Pub / Sports Bar
Party Earth Review The area around Puerta del Sol definitely isn’t short on Irish bars, and that fact is probably most evident at Dubliners, which happens to have a twin brother named O’Connell St. – run by the same owner – located right next door. Thanks to its location on a heavily touristed stretch of Calle Espoz y Mina, patrons will find ... more

If you’ve ever dared to doubt their dedication to soccer, you only need to walk past one of the many sports bars in Madrid when a major game is on to see how involved its citizens are in the game. Whole blocks erupt whenever hometown heroes Real Madrid score a goal, as boisterous patrons spill onto the sidewalk from area sports bars whooping it up like they just won the lottery.
It’s a rare day that Santiago Bernabéu Stadium isn’t sold out for home games, but everyone who couldn’t get a ticket has the opportunity to enjoy the match in a plethora of Madrid sports bars – from swanky to total dives – where they can catch all the action with a beer in hand. But there is much more to sports in and around Madrid than Real soccer – there’s also Atlético Madrid soccer, the team’s local rival, and plenty of sports bars worship them as well.
And of course this bustling capital plays host to every other sport imaginable, from its professional basketball team Real Madrid Baloncesto to the Madrid Masters tennis tournament. No matter what sport tickles your athletic fancy, sports bars in Madrid are likely to have at least one TV carrying even the most esoteric sporting event of the day.
Don’t think bullfighting is a sport? Don’t tell that to the sports bars carrying the action at La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas del Espíritu Santo, which is not only the largest bullring in Spain, but also the second largest in the world.
