Party Earth Review Tapas have dominated Madrid’s gastronomic scene since before it became the capital in the sixteenth century, but La Musa has taken that tradition and run with it. Party Earth Review Cardamomo is the place to both watch and participate in flamenco dancing every night of the week. Party Earth Review Most of the historical center of Madrid was built on a high plateau amid a network of lush green gardens and parks – and situated on a corner in the southern part of that plateau, far away from the city’s constant swarm of tourists, is a little café called El Ventorrillo. Madrid is an incredibly vibrant city – arguably the liveliest in all of Spain – and the bars in Madrid promise an active day-drinking scene that extends well into the night…and well into the following day.
Some stats show Madrid has more bars than any other city in Europe, and even if the guy counting died of alcohol poisoning, it’s good to know there are thousands of Madrid bars that cater to its party-happy populace.
The central thoroughfare of Gran Vía literally never sleeps, running strong with nightlife revelers till well after the sun comes up, while Alonso Martínez and Ciudad Universitaria cater to an equally late-centric crowd of young students enjoying the short-lived ability to pound beers and still make it to class the next day.
Historic bars are plentiful in Barrio de las Letras, Lavapiés, Puerta del Sol and Paseo del Prado, but all four neighborhoods offer everything from casual locals joints with cheap pints and good conversation to pricey cocktail haunts catering to the mixology minded.
Madrid’s vibrant gay population tends to dominate Chueca, which has no shortage of trendy singles spots and relaxed neighborhood watering holes welcome to everyone, though the area has become quite expensive compared to the rest of the city in recent years.
La Latina, finally, is not only the best place to get in on some authentic tapas bars, but is also the home of the Madria bohemian set, and replete with stylish bars with classic cocktails at the ready and sophisticated wine bars with rare boutique varietals.
