The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is a multipurpose venue in Santa Monica, CA. Built in 1958, the convention center-style building is used for sporting events, concerts, banquets, and a variety of other events.
The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium has a storied history, having witnessed performances by some of the world’s most famous musicians, and visits by endless A-list celebrities, among many other things. The building was designated a City Landmark in 2001, and underwent a $46 million renovation in 2011.
The Civic Auditorium housed the famed Academy Awards from 1961 until 1967, and in 1964 hosted the T.A.M.I. Show, a filmed live concert featuring artists such as James Brown, The Supremes, and The Rolling Stones. Concerts at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium have included Frank Sinatra, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.
With a capacity of 3,000 people for concerts, 2,500 for sporting events, and 720 tables for banquets, it’s no surprise that the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is one of the most diverse event venues around. The venue has a state-of-the-art sound system and a unique hydraulic floor that allows for easy transitions between venue styles.
