Malia Blew Mar 21, 2013 3.0 stars Fun place to go! I have always loved coming to Hermosa Beach and especially the pier. There a few things you can't miss. The Beach: The beach is really nice and is pretty wide. It's a popular place to go during the summer! Mediterraneo Kitchen & Bar: This place has the most amazing food. It's a little on the more expensive side, but the food is well worth it. Its tapas or small plates and you can order to share with the table and try all different kinds of plates. My favorite is the shrimp skewers. I love this place! Spyder Surf: They have really cute beachy clothes like Roxy and Hurley. I love their bikinis too. Really nice staff there and feels very local. Bar: They have a lot of bars on the pier that get pretty busy at night. A lot of people that go there are older college students and recent grads. There's a variety of bars, each which are quite different. The most popular is Sharkeez. Hermosa Beach Fair: This biannual fair on and right off the pier is really cute and has a lot of local artists. It's worth fighting the crowds to go. The food is really good and there are so many different venders especially jewelry artists. Fun to go with your friends or your family. The Hermosa Pier has a very diverse crowd depending on the time of day. It is always lively and youthful and I've always had a good time walking around there!

Ellie D Feb 21, 2013 3.0 stars Hermosa Pier- Restaurants, Bars, Bars and more Bars My Take: Hermosa Beach Pier is a great destination, day or night that hosts a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops. Depending on the time of day, your experience here will vary. In the morning the majority of people hanging out here are locals and fitness gurus. Usually they have either just begun their workout or have finished and have come to catch some breakfast. As afternoon approaches you tend to get more of the tourists and non-locals walking the pier, doing some shopping and enjoying lunch at some of the restaurants scattered along it. As happy hour approaches, the locals start to arrive and it definitely becomes livelier. Then, as it gets later into the evening, it slowly starts to blend into the nightlife-scene, which is perhaps what Hermosa Pier is best known for. This is definitely a pub-crawl pier, as you have a handful of bars located practically in a line (Fenners, Sharkeez, Hennessy’s, American Junkie, Sangria etc.) and it gives bar hopping a whole other meaning. The Scene: Again depending on the time of day, the pier will attract different demographics. But typically it draws more of the tourists and a younger scene. There are a lot of recent college graduates living/hanging out here so you don’t get as much of the family vibe as you would in Manhattan Beach. Cocktails & Cuisine: There are an assortment of restaurants and bars to choose from, ranging in Mexican, American and tapas. Prices: Prices will vary. There are some cheaper places to go and eat/drink that offer good happy hour deals like Hennessy’s and Sharkeez and there’s also some classier establishments located on the pier that are a bit pricier like Pamela y Tequila and Mediterrano Kitchen & Bar. What To Wear: People are typically hanging out in beach attire and aren’t as dressed up here as they would be in Manhattan Beach. At night people are dressed up a bit more but nothing super fancy. Jeans and a nice top would be fine. Insider Info/ When to Go: It’s usually easier to find parking here than it is in Manhattan but still bring quarters. Also, if you plan on going out here and drinking, I would recommend that you cab it. There are a ton of police officers patrolling the pier at night.
