The Taste Description

The Taste - Food & Drink Event in Los Angeles.

Normally taking place over Memorial Day weekend, The Taste in Los Angeles is a three-day wine and food festival sponsored by the Los Angeles Times newspaper.

Held on the lot of Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood, The Taste Los Angeles seeks to highlight distinct aspects of food culture in Southern California, and features unlimited food and drink tastings from more than 40 of the area’s top restaurants, as well as cooking and mixology demonstrations, wine seminars, and panel discussions.

The Taste in Los Angeles tickets are $65 in advance and usually increase to $75 once the event has begun. Although many food tastings are included in the ticket price, larger meals are normally extra. Tickets often sell out, so grabbing one early is advised.

Parking is $10/car at the studio lot, though street-parking is usually available if you don’t mind circling the surrounding blocks a few times. Just watch out for folks who took the “unlimited” notion a little too far.

If you like great food and drinks be sure and check out The Taste in Los Angeles!

This is where you go MILF hunting in LA. Seriously, I’ve haven’t seen this many packs of alcohol-charged cougars since I snuck forty gallons of Patron into the San Diego Zoo. It’s great to hang out on the famed Paramount lot and roam past all the different booths with your glass at the ready. Try and resist buying too many bottles for later unless you want to be drunk for the next week. I’d also advise not signing up for any of the individual vendors’ email lists unless you know what you’re doing (pretty much everything tastes the same to me after an hour). The bands are mostly what you would expect at a festival that is not about music. If you’re going here for instrumental majesty you obviously didn’t read the event description. Food options are wide and varied thanks to several food trucks. Darn good time overall, definitely check it out.

Went to The Taste last night at the Paramount lot and I thought it was pretty solid. Basically you buy a ticket in advance which gives you entry to the event, and from there it’s a free for all of as much food and drink as you can shovel down in the 3-4 hour timeframe. All kinds of restaurants and alcohol providers each have their own booth/tent setup and the options were great…it was fun exploring all of the different offerings – burgers from The Counter, pasta from Terroni, sushi from Katana, etc. as well as all different types of vodka, whiskey, rum, beer, wine, and basically whatever you would want. I only had two issues with the event: 1) even though I had bought a ticket in advance, I had to wait in line 20-30 minutes just to get into the event; and 2) it seemed like there were more drink options than food options, so you had to wait in a long line for each food sampling. Overall, this was a fun event on a great night in LA…they were having five or six sessions throughout the weekend as well with different themes so maybe I’ll go back…just need to get there early.
