In October of 2003 Rebecca Ninburg (better known as Demolicious) and Wendy Templeton (often referred to as Thora Zeen,) founded the Doll Factory. The Doll Factory is home to the L.A. Derby Dolls, a league of over 150 female roller derby skaters.
The rink was built using wood, steel, and Masonite. Its firm structure was designed and later constructed by the skaters themselves, as well as many of their friends and family. After they finished constructing the new rink, the skaters divided into five teams and now compete periodically throughout the year.
Roller derby fans, seated on the bleachers surrounding the rink, are sure to love watching the Derby Dolls circle the sloped, outside track at high speeds in hopes of knocking their rivals to the ground.
The venue sells food and drink to enjoy while watching all of the action. All home games are open to spectators of all ages. Tickets at the Doll Factory are available for purchase online or at the door for a slightly higher price (if the show has not already sold out). Neighborhood street parking is not allowed, but parking is available for $10 at Silver Lake Medical Center, one block East of the Doll Factory.
