The Grand Prix of Long Beach hosts the largest street race in North America. The race circuit is a 1.968-mile temporary road surrounding the Long Beach Convention Center. The circuit also goes over the former location of The Pike historic amusement zone. The rest of the circuit is located along the scenic Long Beach waterfront.
Founded by Christopher Pook in 1975, the annual Grand Prix race in April is the largest event in the city of Long Beach, with an attendance of over 200,000 people.
American racecar drivers have dominated the Grand Prix over the years, including Al Unser Jr, who won the race six times with four consecutive wins between 1988-1991. Other notable racecar drivers include Mario Andretti, who was the first American to win an F1 race in a U.S. Grand Prix.
Other events at the Grand Prix include the the Izod IndyCar Series race, as well as a number of other races, including the American Le Mans Series, Indy Lights, and the popular Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.
Parking can be reserved at the Grand Prix Ticket office with one or three-day pre-paid passes.
