The Los Angeles Lakers currently play basketball in Downtown, Los Angeles at the Staples Center which has a seating capacity of 18,997. The Lakers are part of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference which includes other western US teams including the Los Angeles Clippers (who also play at the Staples Center). Originally the Minneapolis Lakers, founded in 1947, the LA Lakers have been playing in Los Angeles since 1960 and have won 16 NBA championships while featuring a bevy of superstars such as Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant. In a city known for entertainment, Lakers games are events in and of themselves as the seats are often littered with A-list celebrities and athletes. Because of the glitz and glamour associated with the team, Lakers tickets are always in high demand and are usually the most expensive in the league.
