West Hollywood, Los Angeles –

A chic hotel with suave European style, Palihouse attracts a moneyed clientele of business people, fashionistas, and foodies who flock to the venue’s various lounges, bars, and brasseries to hobnob over delectable dinners and drinks.

Well-dressed guests who make it past the fickle door are ushered into an elegant lounge featuring a small oyster and cocktail bar catering to the attractive globetrotters chatting each other up around the tables or flirting with the other posh patrons in the amber glow of the fireplace.

Couples tend to prefer the airy courtyard brasserie, whose candlelit minimalist design makes it a hip date spot, while music lovers and entertainment industry types gravitate to the piano lounge to meet and mingle or sink into antique Chesterfields to listen to everything from cool jazz to DJ remixes.

Those looking for a touch of decadence can escape to the Astroturfed rooftop, where Moroccan pillows and rugs offer a place to get cozy with a new friend or party picnic-style with sociable groups under the stars.

A hidden gem with a sophisticated atmosphere and cosmopolitan clientele, Palihouse offers an exclusive getaway without the members-only stamp.

Tip from Jonah:

Spend your Friday writing in the brasserie – and make sure you have The Smiths’ Meat Is Murder album on hand for the Vinyl Lovers Lounge later on, when the DJ spins crowd picks.

Palihouse User Reviews

nishashah Dec 7, 2012 3.0 stars Hip hotel/bar The few times I’ve been to Palihouse, it has never been packed with people. It’s always pretty quiet actually when I walk in. The boutique hotel/bar has a cool, trendy vibe to it, I just don’t know if it gets that much foot traffic. Or maybe I’ve just been there on off nights. The lack of people at Palihouse has never deterred me though. The hotel has a cute atrium area set up for dining that’s really pretty when lit up at night. The pan-roasted chicken breast, squash ravioli, and bacon roasted brussels sprouts are very tasty. When I went to Palihouse for drinks one night I met up with a group of friends. Again, the bar was not crowded, so it felt like we had our own private party going on. We essentially had the whole bar/lounge area to ourselves. The bar is great to just sit and catch up with friends, but probably isn’t great for meeting people given that there is hardly anyone there. Aesthetically, the bar/lounge has a very unique and eclectic décor and is filled with random knick-knacks. The bar serves specialty cocktails and mixology drinks. I particularly like Tommy’s Margarita and The Mistress, which has a mix of vodka and champagne. The hip crowd and chill urban atmosphere at Palihouse make it a spot that I’d gladly go back to. I’d especially love to check out their cinema night on the roof next summer.
DJ Rossstar Nov 30, 2012 4.0 stars Great Spot I love this hotel! Stayed here twice and the room looked like an apartment in London. The bar downstairs is super swanky & the restaurant has a great selection. They have a second location on Melrose but I haven't been there yet!
Ali Aug 17, 2012 2.0 stars An interesting story at worst. The elegance and curves of the Palihouse bar are only rivaled by the beautiful women surrounding it. Palihouse attracts a large demographic of people, from the rich and powerful to the well...more rich and more powerful. Don’t think you’ll fit in? No worries. Just wear raggedy clothes and try to pass as a wealthy hipster. If all else fails, find a man in a suit and call him an elitist (using fancy words like that are a sure fire way to prove you belong). That is of course if you can get in. Long lines outside the door are normal for this trendy L.A. spot. Also don’t try greasing the doorman. They frown upon that. No, literary. I tried slipping him a ten and he looked like I shot his dog. Of course my mood changed once I actually got inside the lounge. I was greeted with a wonderful smell that lifted me off my feet like a cartoon character and slowly drew me in. I followed the smell until I accidentally interrupted a couple, it was their anniversary (he bought her a cable knit sweater, I was disappointed for her). They were celebrating with a bottle of vino from the Palihouse’s extensive wine list and that wonderful smell was the Duck Confit from their dinner menu. I will give Palihouse a pat-on-the-back for their happy hour options and affordable priced menu. Palihouse is definitely worth a visit. It has an interesting crowd (that may not talk to you, but interesting nonetheless), great food and an awesome patio. Come for a movie night on the rooftop or just bum the free Wi-Fi they offer. Whatever the reason may be, give Palihouse a shot.
